Billsboro Chardonnay 2014: $16 Good+

If the Billsboro Winery Chardonnay (Atwater Vineyards, Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $16 [Good+] has a leg-up on the other “Good+” 2014s, it is for one simple reason.  It tastes like Chardonnay.  Open-knit, sweet-fruited, and very quaffable, the Billsboro is a good sipper.

Medium lemon yellow in color, the aromas of sweet peach, apple, and lemon are accented very lightly by vanilla spice.  Medium bodied, off-dry, round, with good acidity, the Billsboro is decently balanced.  Solid juicy open-knit flavors of peach, apple and citrus have a little oaky/spice accent. The finish is somewhat awkward with good length.  This would be a good bottle to sip with friends.  It did not hold up in the refrigerator overnight, so drink it in one sittting.  September 2015.
