Lamoreaux Landing “Reserve” Chardonnay 2014: $20 Good+

The Lamoreaux Landing “Reserve” Chardonnay (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $20 [Good+] is a solid well-balanced Chardonnay, with fairly high acidity and a notable saline streak.  With a tad more concentration it would have hit the “very good” mark.  It is best with food, not as a sipper.

Medium lemon in color, notes of cream, toast and butterscotch are predominant in the nose, and are allied with understated white peach, apple, and a spicy pear.  Medium to full bodied, satiny in texture, dry and tart, balance is good.  Firm flavors of lemon, white peach and a hint of apricot combine with creamy and butterscotch notes, and are buttressed by a strong salty component.  The harmony of these flavors is a plus.  The finish is a bit tart, salty, with good length.  November 2015
