Buttonwood Grove Chardonnay 2015: $19 Good+ to Very Good

The Buttonwood Grove Chardonnay (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $19 [Good+ to Very Good] is a light-to-moderately intense wine that is well balanced and a pleasure to sip.  The harmony of oak and fruit in this wine is admirable.  Serve it with snacks or light dinner entrees.

Medium lemon yellow in color, aromas of Crème Brûlée, brown spice, apple, lemon, and gunflint are not intense but have an appealing harmony.  Medium bodied, dry, with ample acidity, balance is very good.  Flavors of apple, lemon, brown spice, Crème Brûlée and chalky mineral have good concentration and a more importantly, cohesiveness and balance.  The finish shows a little tang, a touch of saltiness, and good length.  January 2017

Note:  On the winery’s web site this wine is designated the “reserve” Chardonnay, but the word “reserve” is not on the label.
