Dr. Konstantin Frank Chardonnay 2015:  $15 Good+

The Dr. Konstantin Frank Chardonnay (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $15 Good+ is a moderately concentrated wine with a nice balance of peachy fruit, spice, and Crème brûlée.  With extended aeration, the aromas and flavors tire and fade, so drink this bottle in one sitting.

Medium lemon in color, notes of spice and Crème brûlée meld nicely with sappy peach, melon, apple and tangy citrus accents.  The aromas and flavors fade considerably afer a night in the fridge, becoming much earthier.  Medium bodied, dry, slightly tannic, with lots of tangy acidity, this bottle has a somewhat tough mouth feel.  Balance is good.  Flavors of apple, peach and citrus are accented by light notes of spice, Crème brûlée, and a tough mineral component, which gives the wine a certain austere quality.  The finish is tart and tangy, reserved, with good length.  February 2017.

Note: 30% of the wine was barrel fermented, while 70%  was vinified in stainless steel.
