Eminence Road “Elizabeth’s Vineyard” Cabernet Franc 2016: $25 Good+ to Very Good

The Eminence Road Farm Winery “Elizabeth’s Vineyard” Cabernet Franc (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $25 [Good+ to Very Good] is a leaner wine than Eminence Road’s Seneca Lake Cabernet Franc, and possesses a slightly sour quality.  Despite these minor flaws, the wine is well structured and flavorful, and should work with many dinner entrées.

Medium ruby in color, the aromas feature scents of raspberry, black currant, graphite, cocoa, and hints of farm yard and sour dill.  Light to medium bodied, slightly sour, with grippy medium intense tannin, the ER is more structured than most Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc wines.  Tangy flavors of red and black fruit, graphite, shale stone, cocoa, and hints of sour dill have good freshness and intensity in a lighter weight style.  The finish is tannic, with good length.  March 2018
