Dr. Konstantin Frank Gewürztraminer 2016: Good $17

The Dr. Konstantin Frank Gewürztraminer (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $17 [Good] is well made, but a shortage of fruit flavor allows earthy/weedy notes to come to the fore, limiting this wine's appeal.

Light lemon in color, there are diffuse musky aromas of candied lychee, bubblegum, an earthy/weedy note and light spice.  The earthy/weedy note detracts.  Medium bodied, on the sweet side of medium dry, with a little dash of spritz, balance is OK.  Flavors of lychee, pear, orange-y citrus, a bit of spice, and a weedy/earthy note have modest intensity and appeal.  The finish is tangy but also notably earthy and weedy, with average length.  February 2017.
