Keuka Spring Gewürztraminer 2016: $13 to $17 Very Good

For Gewürtztraminer lovers, Keuka Spring is a go-to winery.  The character of its wines may change a bit from year to year, but the winery’s Gewürztraminer is reliably flavorful, with an attractive round mouth feel.  It is a flexible wine too, which can be sipped or served with food.

The Keuka Spring Gewürztraminer (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $13 to $17 [Very Good] is medium lemon in color.  Solid aromas of rose, lychee and pear are framed by a citrus tang and a moderate amount of spice.  Medium bodied, off-dry to medium dry, with a firm satiny/spicy mouth feel, balance is very good.  Flavors of lychee, rose, pear, grapefruit and spice are moderately concentrated and have a sense of restraint.  A bit of cellar time might bring forth more richness from this wine.  More spice emerges in the well-balanced and moderately long finish.  Spice notes linger.
