Fulkerson Grüner Veltliner 2016: $15 Very Good

Fulkerson seems to have the magic touch with Grüner, producing very good wines year after year.  The Fulkerson Estate Grüner Veltliner (Finger Lakes, NY) $15 [Very Good] is a bigger wine than usual, with generous tangy flavors of grapefruit, green apple and citrus.  It is a very good value.

Light lemon in color, piquant aromas of grapefruit, green apple, tangerine, bitter citrus zest, steel, and a smoky mineral note are quite appealing.  Medium bodied, off dry, with tangy acidity, the Fulkerson is well balanced.  Generous flavors of grapefruit, green apple, candied citrus, citrus zest, and a smoky mineral note are accompanied by a saline streak.  The finish is crisp, mildly bitter and lip smacking, with very good length.  June 2017
