Thirsty Owl Pinot Gris 2016: $15 Good+ to Very Good

The Thirsty Owl Pinot Gris (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $15 [Good+ to Very Good] is a solid Pinot Gris, with pure and well focused flavors, and enough orangey citrus to prompt another sip.  It is a very good value.  Serve it with snacks or dinner.

Medium straw in color, the aromas show scents of ripe pear, white peach, mandarin orange, oily/buttery notes, and hints of spice and earth.  Medium bodied, dry, with average acidity, balance is good.  Tight compact flavors of pear, white peach, pineapple, orange, earth, a slight bitter note, and hints of honey have good concentration.  The finish is balanced, turning drier, more mineral and slightly bitter, with good length.  October 2017
