Damiani Pinot Grigio 2015: $16 Good+ to Very Good

The Damiani Wine Cellars Pinot Grigio (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $16 [Good+ to Very Good] is an easy-drinking uncomplicated wine with good flavor and decent balance.  It is best with unassertive foods, such as plainly prepared chicken, turkey or fish.  With a touch of sugar, it is also a good sipper.

Light lemon in color, with a slight pinkish cast, the aromas are moderately intense, with scents of orange-y citrus, buttery stone fruit, smoke, and a distinct meaty note.  Medium bodied, off-dry, slightly viscous, with some notable peppery acidity, balance is OK.  Flavors of waxy/buttery stone fruit, orange-y citrus, smoke and pepper are pleasant and moderately intense.  The flavors have a fairly neutral character.  The finish is a bit peppery, with average length.  July 2016
