Ravines Sauvignon Blanc 2015: $19 Very Good

The Ravines Wine Cellars Sauvignon Blanc (Finger Lakes, NY) $19 [Very Good] is a very well made and flavorful wine, with mouth watering appeal.  With a little dab of sugar and racy acidity, it is a very flexible wine, fine for sipping or to accompany a wide variety of foods.

Pale lemon in color, the aromas are airy and piquant, with scents of sappy melon, grapefruit, gooseberry, white pepper and a smoky/rubbery note.  Medium bodied, with a touch of sweetness (off-dry to medium dry) and a nicely textured mouth feel, racy acidity keeps this wine interesting.  It is very well balanced.  Sappy flavors of melon, apple, grapefruit, gooseberry, white pepper, a smoky/rubbery note and a touch of salinity have good concentration and appeal.  The finish is a bit peppery, lip-smacking, with very good length.  May 2016
