Damiani Cabernet Franc 2014: $22 Very Good

Did someone say “crowd pleaser”?  This wine is sure to be a hit with those who like open-knit, accessible, easy-drinking red wine.  The Damiani Wine Cellars Cabernet Franc (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $22 [Very Good] has solid flavors, some complexity, and a high drinkability quotient.  It is not quite as good on day two, so imbibe it at one sitting.

Medium ruby in color, sweet raspberry and black cherry fruit meld with notes of spice, pepper, graphite and tar.  The aromas have good intensity.  Medium bodied, soft, open-knit, with light gritty tannin, balance is good.  Genial and accessible flavors of black cherry and raspberry have nuances of pepper, brown spice and graphite, and are medium intense.  The finish is moderately gritty and a bit awkward, showing good sweet fruit and moderate length.  October 2016
