Glenora Cabernet Sauvignon 2016: $18 to $25 Very Good

The Glenora Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $18 to $25 [Very Good] shows more age than other wines from the 2016 vintage.  The color has moved toward garnet, and the aromas have lost some distinct fruit flavor, as meaty and vanilla notes have come to the fore.  An easy-drinking wine, with solid flavors and some complexity, it is a good value at the lower end of the price range.

Dark ruby garnet in color, there are medium intense aromas of black and red currant, milk chocolate, vanilla, graphite, and a hint of licorice.  With air, the aromas move toward meaty and vanilla notes.  Medium bodied, open knit, with average acidity and medium intense tannin which fades considerably with air, balance is good.  Meaty flavors of red and black currant, milk chocolate, vanilla, graphite, and a light bell pepper note have good concentration.  The finish is lightly tangy and tannic with good length.  Flavors linger.  January 2019
