Ravines “Keuka Village” Red Wine 2015: $13 Good+

Priced as low as $10 in some wine shops (without a case discount), it is hard to beat the Ravines “Keuka Village” Red Wine (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $13 [Good+] as an everyday dinner wine.  It is an excellent buy.  Unlike many other wines at this price, it is well made, without any flaws, with solid flavors.

Vibrant medium ruby in color, the aromas include tart red and black berry fruit, green stems, pepper, and stones.  It is a relatively restrained and savory set of aromas.  Medium bodied, with mouth watering acidity and firm tannin, balance is very good.  Somber flavors of red and black berries, green stems, pepper, and dusty stones are fresh and flavorful, with good concentration.  The finish is tangy, firmly tannic, with good length.  Notes of tart berries, green stems and a spicy note linger.  March 2016
