Ravines Pinot Noir 2013: $25 Good+

The Ravines Wine Cellars Pinot Noir (Finger Lakes, NY) $25 [Good+] certainly smells and tastes like authentic Pinot Noir.  It is not as successful as the 2012, nor does it fare too well overnight in the fridge.  Drink it at one sitting.

Very light tan-pink in color, the Ravines is in rosé territory.  The aromas show lots of toast, strawberry jam, spice, a steely note and bitter herbs.  Medium to full bodied, round, with tangy acidity, there is just a smidgen of tannin.  Flavors of strawberry, copious spice, bitter herbs and a steely note make a modestly intense impression.  The finish is tangy, with some bitterness, lots of spice and good length.  February 2016
