Treleaven Pinot Noir 2016: $18 Good+

The Treleaven Pinot Noir (Cayuga Lake, Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $18 [Good+] is a moderately intense Pinot, with solid fruit flavors, a notable saline streak, and light bitter notes.  Drink this wine with snacks or dinner.

Light ruby/brick in color, the aromas show light to moderately intense red fruit accented by brown spice, butterscotch and cedar.  Medium bodied, with light tannin, the Treleaven has an open knit and unstructured mouth feel.  Balance is good.  Flavors of strawberry and cherry, spice, cedar and a light medicinal note have good concentration and are underlined by a strong saline streak.  The finish is mildly bitter and gritty with good length.  Lightly bitter green notes linger.  January 2018
