Lamoreaux Landing “Red Oak Vineyard” Riesling 2016: $24 Good+ to Very Good

The Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars “Red Oak Vineyard” Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $24 [Good+ to Very Good] smells like it was produced in a cooler vintage, given its apple and lemon/lime aromas and flavors.  This wine is best as a sipper.

Medium straw in color, the aromas are tart and airy, with notes of apricot, apple, lemon/lime, and a dash of stony mineral.  Medium bodied, lightly chalky, medium dry, with tangy acidity, balance is very good, a strength of this wine.  Flavors of apple, lime, apricot and a chalky mineral note have good concentration and focus, and a sense of restraint.  The finish is tart and lip smacking, with good length.  Notions of oxidized or overripe grapes linger.  November 2017
