Wagner Dry Riesling 2016: $11 to $15 Very Good

Wagner Vineyards has an excellent track record in recent years, offering very dry zippy Rieslings at a nice price.  This year is no exception.  Dry, tart and tangy, with a very good core of citrus-y fruit, this is a nice wine and a bargain as well.

Medium lemon yellow in color, the Wagner Vineyards Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) $11 to $15 [Very Good] has tart and tangy aromas of lemon oil, grapefruit, apricot, citrus zest, and notes of earth and metal.  Medium bodied, very dry, with a hint of tannin and pronounced acidity, balance is very good.  Flavors of ripe apple, lime, grapefruit, earth and a metallic note have very good concentration.  The finish is harmonious, lip smacking, with very good length.  August 2017
