Hosmer Dry Riesling 2015: $15 Very Good

The Hosmer Dry Riesling (Cayuga Lake, Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $15 [Very Good] is a dry streamlined wine with restrained flavors of peach, citrus and chalky loam.  Nicely balanced, with good concentration and focus, it can be sipped, but fairly high acidity makes it a better candidate for the dinner table.  It is a very good value.

Medium lemon in color, there are light aromas of peach, lemon, lime, gunflint, chalky soil notes, and a hint of honey.  Medium bodied, off-dry, with good spritz-y zesty acidity, balance is very good.  Narrowly focused & restrained flavors of sappy peach, ripe apple, lime, peppery spice and chalky/loamy soil notes are underlined by a lightly intense saline streak.  Concentration is very good.  The finish is tangy, zesty, and a bit peppery, with good to very good length.  October 2016
