The Inspire Moore “Joy” Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY 2015) $14 [Very Good] is the first Riesling I’ve tasted from 2015, and it is a fine start to this vintage. Tart and zesty, with very good flavor concentration, it is a bright and lively young thing. An excellent buy, and a definite step up from this winery’s 2014, you can sip it or serve it with food. Drink this wine now, for its fresh & lively character.
Bright pale lemon in color, the aromas are light, tart, and lively, with scents of lemon, lime, apple, a little white peach, and stone. The nose is a bit young and raw. Medium bodied, medium dry, with lots of lively spritz-y acidity, balance is quite good. Mouthwatering flavors of granny smith apple, candied sour apple, pear, lemon, anise, and a stony mineral note have good concentration, poise, and freshness. The finish is tart, streamlined, and lip smacking, with very good length, leaving behind some gingery spice. March 2016
