Keuka Lake Vineyards “Goldman Vineyard” Dry Riesling 2015: $25 Very Good

The Keuka Lake Vineyards “Goldman Vineyard” Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $25 [Very Good] is a smaller scaled version of this wine, without the power or complexity of some other recent vintages.  Nevertheless, this is an appealing bottle.  On the lean & austere side of the Riesling spectrum, it has a silky texture, solid tart & citrus-y flavors, and good balance.  Sip this wine or drink it with food.

Pale lemon in color, aromatic intensity is modest, with somewhat scents of lime, lemon oil, apple, anise, slate and hints of charcoal.  Light to medium bodied, medium dry, silky and lean, with a good deal of lemony acidity, balance is good.  Flavors of Lime, apple, lemon, slate, and a hint of charcoal ash have good intensity.  The finish is reserved, lip smacking, with good length.  Suggestions of oxydized fruit linger.  April 2017
