Billsboro Dry Riesling 2014: $20 Very Good

One has to admire the subtlety and focus of the Billsboro Winery “Leidenfrost Vineyards” Dry Riesling  (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $20 [Very Good].  The wine was barrel fermented, but the oak influence is subtle, not at all heavy-handed.  A svelte and pretty wine, this Riesling is well put together.  Acid lovers can sip it.  Others should drink this wine with light to medium intense foods.

Light lemon in color, the aromas are tart and slender, composed of apple, citrus, a touch of cream and spice.  Medium bodied, tart, and off-dry, the mouth feel of the Billsboro is silky and winsome, nicely focused.  Tart mouthwatering flavors of apple, mandarin orange and citrus are inflected with delicate creamy notes and spice.  The finish is well balanced, tart, with very good length.  October 2015.
