Boundary Breaks “OLN” Riesling 2014: $15 Very Good

The Boundary Breaks “Ovid Line North, Medium Dry” Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $15 [Very Good] is a juicy & succulent medium dry to near- sweet Riesling, with lots of lip-smacking acidity to balance its sugar.  A nice wine to sip, this bottle also worked very well with picnic food, especially smoked trout.  It is an excellent value.

Medium lemon in color,  the OLN has fresh and lively aromas of apple, lemon oil, ripe grapefruit and slate.  There are hints of roses and petrol too.  Light to medium bodied, medium dry to medium sweet, with a solid chunky mouthfeel and lively acidity, the OLN is well balanced.  Flavors of apple, grapefruit, lemon oil, shale stone/petrol and a bit of spice have very good concentration.  The finish is of-a-piece and lightly spicy, with very good length.  August 2016

Note:  The OLN  took on some wet wool notes after a day in the fridge, so drink it in one sitting.
