Casa Larga Dry Riesling 2014: $11 Good+

The Casa Larga Vineyards Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $11 [Good+] is slim wine, without a great deal of intensity.  But this bottle does show the virtues of the 2014 vintage — namely, balance.  With very good acidity and nice balance, this will make an excellent food wine.  It is also very reasonably priced, a good choice for everyday meals.

Very pale lemon in color, light aromas of lemon, lime and apple have a hefty seltzery/mineral component.  Light to medium bodied, off-dry, with some spritz and lively acidity, the CL has a light mouth feel.  It is very nicely balanced.  Moderately intense flavors of tart green apple, lime, and fresh apricot are tart and refreshing, joined by an equally intense chalky mineral component.  The finish is tart, chalky, well balanced with good length.
