Keuka Lake “Eastside” Dry Riesling 2014: $23 Very Good+

The Keuka Lake Vineyards “Eastside” Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $23 [Very Good+] is a distinctive and interesting wine, with broad &  juicy mineral/baked-apple flavors that are powerful enough to stand up to Herb-crusted Lamb.  A bit sweet (medium dry), there is enough acidity for this wine to work well with food.  It is a very good sipper too.

Medium lemon in color, the aromas of ripe apple, lime, lemon oil, honey, cream, and a distinctive smoky/stony mineral note are interesting and appealing.  There is a very ripe oxidative quality to the aromas.  Medium bodied, medium dry, plump & open-knit, the Eastside is silky-soft and well balanced.  Flavors of baked apples, honey, lemon candy, lime, lemongrass and a strong smoky/stony mineral note are concentrated and interesting. The finish is both silky-smooth and lip-smacking, with very good length.  June 2016
