Inspire Moore “Love” Riesling 2014: $17 Good+

“Love” is more polite and circumspect in 2014, not so rich and sensuous as the previous year.  The 2013 burst with peaches and tropical fruit, but this 2014 is not its equal, with an emphasis on ripe pear with a bit of citrus for balance and zest.

The Inspire Moore “Love” Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $17 [Good+] is light to medium lemon in color.  A veritable fruit bowl of aromas emerges from the bottle on opening — peach, pear, lime, orange and citrus zest.  But the cascade of fruit is fleeting, and the aromas diminish with air, showing mainly moderately intense pear with accents of lime and citrus zest.  Light to medium bodied, quite sweet, with a full mouth feel, “Love” has adequate acidity.  Good flavors of pear fruit are touched by lesser notes of peach, lime, citrus zest and shale stone.  The center of this wine is a bit sugary, lacking vivid fruit. The finish is good, with flavors of spicy pear cake.  March 2015
