Keuka Lake Semi-Dry Riesling 2014: $18 Good+ to Very Good

The Keuka Lake Vineyards Semi-Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $18 [Good+ to Very Good] is a charming wine with interesting but somewhat diffuse flavors.  It is one of the sweetest “semi-dry” wines in the 2014 roundup.  A good sipper, it can also be consumed with light foods.

Bright medium lemon in color, the aromas are medium intense and fairly lively, with notes of lime, white peach, pink grapefruit, citrus zest, pine, shale stone and pepper.  Light to medium bodied, quite sweet, with average acidity, the mouth feel is fairly loose and unstructured.  Fresh and pure flavors of white peach, lime sherbet, pink grapefruit, pine, shale stone and a bit of peppery spice have good concentration.  The wine fades rather quickly in the finish, which has a little acid tang, a bit of spice, and decent length.  January 2016
