Lafayette Reneau Semi-Dry Riesling 2014: $13 Good

The Chateau Lafatette Reneau Semi-Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $13 [Good] is a sweet quaffable Riesling best served as an aperitif.  As with many other “Semi-Dry” wines, there is nothing “dry" about it.

Pale lemon in color, the nose shows ripe candied pear and tropical fruit lifesavers with a touch of lime and slight earthy/muddy notes.  Light to medium bodied, quite sweet, with just enough acidity, balance is good.  Sugary flavors of pear, tropical fruit, lime, peppery spice and earthy notes make for a decent (if somewhat diffuse) quaff.  Fruit flavors fade quickly in the average-length finish.  January 2016

Note:  The aromas and flavors deteriorate overnight in the fridge.  Drink this at one sitting.
