Point of  the Bluff Semi-Dry Riesling 2014: $15 Good+ to Very Good

As “semi-dry” Finger Lakes Riesling goes, the Point of the Bluff Vineyards Semi-Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2014 $15 [Good+ to Very Good] is quite successful and a very good value.  This wine has a great deal of fruit, with snappy acidity to balance its sweetness.  Less compelling after a day in the fridge, drinkers should sip this bottle in one sitting, with snacks.

Medium straw in color, there is a slight pink cast.  Aromas of ripe apple, stone fruit, lemon oil, lime, and  hint of honey have an appealing tangy quality.  Light to medium bodied, medium sweet, with a round mouth feel and a touch of spritz, balance is good.  Firm flavors of very ripe apple, melon, lemon oil, lime and a mineral note have very good concentration.  The finish adds an extra jot of acidity but is rather clipped, concluding with a smack of the lips.  September 2017
