The Six Mile Creek Vineyard Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) $15 [Good+] is a sweet, quaffable, citrus-y Riesling. It is also quite peppery and zesty, and these elements are a nice counterpoint to the wine’s sweetness. With its smoky/gunflint notes and grapefruit zest flavors, it might remind some tasters of Fresca — in alcoholic form. Sip this wine or drink it with lighter foods.
Medium lemon in color, tangy aromas of lemon, green apple, and grapefruit have a strong smoky/gunflint note. Medium bodied, medium sweet, with good tangy acidity, balance is good. Flavors of lemon, green apple, and white peach are accented by pepper and a strong grapefruit zest note. In the finish, bitter grapefruit zest and peppery notes come to the fore. Length is good.
