Fox Run Semi-Dry Riesling 2016: $13 Good+ to Very Good

The Fox Run Semi-Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $13 [Good+ to Very Good] has solid flavors of peach and citrus, and is on the sweeter side of the semi-dry spectrum.  Balance is a bit off, but even so, this is an enjoyable wine for sipping, and one can’t argue with the price.

Medium straw yellow in color, the aromas are tart and nose tickling, with scents of lemon/lime, white peach, honey and earthy loam.  Light to medium bodied, medium sweet, with acidity that sticks out a bit, balance is OK.  Solid flavors of peach and honey are accented by lemon/lime and earth.  The finish is a bit inharmonious, the acidity diverging from the mellow flavors.  Length is good.  February 2018
